Easy long-distance hiking through an Alpine region, which is also one of the last wild river landscapes in Europe: The “Lech path – from the spring to the fall” opened up an Alpine backdrop for easy long-distance hiking for the first time for the 2012 hiking season. At the same time, it is the first cross-border long-distance hiking trail that is certified according to the quality criteria of the European Ramblers Association (ERA).
With around 125 kilometres, the Lech path travels from Formarinesee near Lech to Arlberg via Warth into the Nature Park Region of Lech Valley-Reutte on to Lechfall in Füssen in Allgäu. It therefore connects three regions and two countries with their respective traditions and stories.
...then wild again and then gentle again and full of fabulous stories to be discovered. It begins in Formarinesee in Vorarlberg, Austria and initially accompanies the Formarinbach, which merges with the Spullerbach to form the young Lech river. Via Lech to Arlberg, named “Europe’s most beautiful village” in 2004, the river continues along to the Walser village of Warth with Vorarlberg’s highest situated dairy butcher’s “Wälder Metzge”. After Lechleiten, the panoramic path leads into the Lech valley towards Steeg. Along the Lech, it travels on to Holzgau. Here, late Baroque paintings adorn some house facades.
